Mark-out plan

Our car park has been repaired and resurfaced, thanks to the Provincial Growth Fund and the South Wairarapa District Council

For many years now, we have been in a constant battle against widening pot-holes and encroaching moss and weeds.

Pot-holes are the bane of any organisation with a car park.

Once a weak spot collapses, stop-gap repairs only exacerbate the problem as the new work - stronger than the surrounding old surface - stresses the old material and the hole simply gets bigger.

All this has been taken care of in one fell swoop by the application of a new tar and chip seal surface over the whole area.

Once the new surface settles, line painting will begin. This has been booked for the 15th of March and will be done over night.

Featherston Art Sale 2020

It’s time for the fifth annual Featherston Art Sale!

The Featherston Art Sale is an annual gala exhibition and fundraiser for the Featherston Community Centre. This year it will be held at the Community Centre at 14 Wakefield Street on 7-10 May. It’s an exciting event, full of inspiring art pieces available to buy, all made by Wairarapa artists.

Everyone is invited to come to the opening night celebration from 6pm on Thursday 7 May at the Featherston Community Centre. Tickets for the opening are $10 at the door (free for youth under 16). Ticket holders can meet the artists, and get an early look at the exhibition.

As part of the Featherston Booktown weekend, the Featherston Art Sale is a fabulous showcase of Wairarapa talent, from established professional artists to first-time exhibitors. Drawings, paintings, sculptures and pottery, for sale on a “cash & carry” basis from $50 to $2000, will satisfy all budgets.

The Community Centre is a non-profit organisation. At least 30% of all sales will help keep the centre open so it can keep hosting clubs, social services, community classes, and more.

Artist registration

Wairarapa artists and artists with a connection to the Wairarapa are invited to submit artwork by 18 April to be in the exhibition. Email Maud Bot at Featherstonart@gmail.com with questions.
Make sure you are familiar with the event guidelines.
