How do I book a room?

What are the Terms and Conditions and other policies?

Please read the Venue Hire Agreement (terms and conditions), the Health and Safety Policy and the Child protection policy.  Click on the Terms and Conditions or Policy name for a downloadable pdf for your records.

What if I have a query before I can make a booking?
You can phone the Community Centre, Monday-Friday 9am-3pm, on (06) 308 8239, or you can email, or come in and talk to us, we are happy to help.

What if the room I would like to book is being used?
Please contact the Centre on 06 309 8239, or email and we can make some space recommendations based on your needs.

When will my booking be processed?
Booking requests will be processed during business hours only and may take up to 2 business days to be confirmed. If your booking is more urgent than this, please contact the Centre Office between 9am-3pm (Monday to Friday).

What do I need to know if my booking is outside of normal office hours?

You will need to make arrangements with the Centre to pick up (and return) keys and alarm code instructions during our business hours (9am-3pm Monday to Friday) if your booking is outside of our normal business hours.

How do I pay?
We will invoice you at the end of the month unless you are classed as a group needing a meeting space when you can collect $2 per person (for a gathering up to 3 hrs) and pay in cash on the day.

What facilities are available at the Community Centre?
Users of the Centre are welcome to use the kitchen facilities (microwave, oven and dishwasher), wi-fi and heating (including the woodburner in the larger Kauri room).  The use of the Centre’s tea, coffee, milk, and sugar is also permitted, provided a koha (donation) is made towards the cost.

Can you help me advertise my event?
Yes, we can! If you are wanting to hire a space on a regular basis, or hiring for an event, we can help you advertise for it on our Facebook or website – we just need all the information to us at least 5 working days in advance. If you would like your event to go into our printed timetable, then we’d need all the details confirmed by the 18th of the month prior. Please refer to the Terms and Conditions of Hire for further details or call us on 06 308 8239 to discuss.

What are the housekeeping rules?
Please leave the space clean and tidy, safely locked up, with heaters turned to 1.5, or turned off during warmer months. Please read through the Terms and Conditions of Hire carefully before you make a booking. please also note the additional requirements due to the COVID 19 pandemic. What if I need to cancel a booking?
All bookings are subject to cancellation fees.  Please read through the Terms and Conditions of Hire carefully before you make a booking.

Do you have a liquor licence?

No, we are not a licensed premises.

Are animals permitted at the Centre?
Animals are not permitted inside the Centre, except for Guide Dogs of course, but you are welcome to leave them tied up outside, and to fetch a bowl of water to ensure they are safe and comfortable.

Can we set up early?
Your booking will need to reflect set up and pack up time.
If you are hiring the space on a regular basis, 15 minutes set up time can be allowed. Please contact the Centre office to discuss your needs. Please ensure you communicate your needs clearly so that there are no accidental overlaps between yours and other bookings.
